Delicious to eat and pleasing to look at, the Australian Beach Cherry Tree is a constant producer of bright shiny red cherries and a welcome addition to any gardeners potted fruit collection. Although a slow grower, once a young plant reaches 12 in height, it will start bearing fruit. Tolerant to dry conditions both in the soil and the air, this member of the myrtle family takes well to pruning and is often used as a hedge in Australia. It can be kept at 2-3 indefinitely and will still produce an abundance of sweet cherries. Native to the Northeast tropical areas of Australia, it is often found growing on beachfronts, hence its name Australian Beach Cherry Tree.
